Teaching my kids our village's harvest festival

We moved abroad ten years ago, but every autumn we set aside a weekend to celebrate the harvest the way my grandmother did in our village. The kids help grind the grain, we share the first meal outdoors, and I tell them one story about the old days. It has become the tradition they ask about most. How do other families keep a festival alive when the homeland is far away?
